    Chris Peter

    Campus Minister

Chris grew up in Northern Virginia, just outside of Washington DC, in a wonderful family and church where he heard and believed the Gospel from an early age. While in college at Virginia Tech, he got connected to the ministry of RUF, where he found amazing community and grew greatly in his faith in Christ. After graduating in 2015, he served for 2 years as an intern with RUF at NC State. He then went on to get his Masters of Divinity at Reformed Theological Seminary, Charlotte, from 2017-21, working with RUF at Winthrop University during his time there. While in seminary, he met Kelsey (originally from Hickory, NC, and a graduate of Western Carolina University) at an RUF training, and after she finished her RUF internship at the University of Vermont, they got married in 2019. And in January 2022 they welcomed their daughter Elliana into the world!

Chris is incredibly thankful to have the job of pouring the truth of the Gospel into college students' lives. He would love to grab a cup of coffee with you (or his real preference: tea), and chat about Jesus, theology, sports, board games, sci-fi/fantasy stories, food, or really just about anything.
Chris and Kelsey love college students and are so excited to welcome the students of Millersville into their lives and home!

    Larissa Kanz

    Intern

Larissa grew up in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, close to beautiful Lake Michigan. She spent much time going to Milwaukee Brewers baseball games with her parents and younger brothers and visiting her family's cabin in the woods of Northern Wisconsin - activities that she still enjoys very much! Larissa graduated from Belhaven University in Jackson, Mississippi, with a degree in Biblical Studies and a minor in dance. During her time at Belhaven, RUF was her consistent community and a great source of encouragement. Larissa served on the RUF ministry team at Belhaven and helped to lead the RUF music team. The Lord greatly used RUF to work in Larissa's life and give her a heart for ministry. She is thankful for a Campus Minister and interns at Belhaven who invested in her life and continually pointed her toward Christ. Larissa is so excited to serve the students of Millersville University and encourage and disciple them throughout their college journeys!

  • FAQ

    What is RUF all about?

    What does RUF do?

    • Our main functions can be broken up into 4 categories
    • Fellowship Night - We have a weekly time to gather as a group, snack together, enjoy bonding time as a community, and hear a short message on the Gospel.
    • Small Group Bible Studies - Small groups are weekly meetings where students explore faith together. Using the Bible as our jumping off point, students are encouraged to asks questions about what the bible says, faith and life. Most of these groups are student led.
    • One on Ones - Students meet regularly with small group leaders, other student leaders or the Campus Minister.
    • Events - We have regular events, anything from game nights, halloween parties and conferences.

    What does RUF believe?

In all that we do on campus, RUF seeks to be honest. We don’t assume a “generic Christianity,” but sincerely embrace the system of doctrine set down in a historical document called The Westminster Confession of Faith. This also means that we are open about our affiliation. RUF is the official campus ministry of the Presbyterian Church in America.

    Fellowship Night

    Building Community

Our weekly fellowship night is on Thursdays from 8:00-10:00pm in the SMC. Fellowship night is an opportunity to come and spend time getting to know one another and share community. We have food, play games, and once a month have worship. God has made us to be in relationship with one another, and we believe that having fun is a big part of building trust.

    Conferences

    Deepening Relationships

Once a semester RUF Millersville joins other colleges from the region or nation for a conference. These are incredibly impactful opportunities to deepen our relationships with one another and God. In the fall we go to the mountains for a weekend retreat. And at the end of the spring semester, we go to the beach for a week.
